Funding

  • Government funding for early education and childcare

There are currently three separate government funded early education and childcare schemes in England that offer free early education and childcare for children aged two, three and four for 38 weeks per year. Each of the schemes has different eligibility rules so it’s important to check which of the schemes is right for you. You can get the up to date eligibility criteria on www.childcarechoices.gov.uk

    The government funds:

    • 15 hours free early education and childcare for 2 year olds (available for families in receipt of low-income benefits)
    • Universal 15 hours free early education and childcare for all 3 & 4 year olds
    • 30 hours free early education and childcare for 3 & 4 year olds for eligible families in work

What is early education and childcare funding?

Early education and childcare funding is an opportunity for your child to join in play based education in a quality environment.

    How can I apply?

    2 year old funding

For the 2 year old funding you will receive a ‘golden ticket’ or code from the local authority with your eligibility code on it. Bring this ticket to Hippitots and enquire about a place.

    3 & 4 year old funding

For the universal free 15 hours 3 & 4 year old funding you need to register with Hippitots we will apply for your funding

For the free 30 hours funding for working parents you will need to check your eligibility on www.childcarechoices.co.uk. If eligible you will get an 11 digit code which you need to bring to Hippitots to register your child and claim the extended funding.

What will my child get from attending an early years setting?

Your child will get the chance to access early education and childcare in an environment which focuses on extending their learning through play, communication, emerging skills, social interaction, and building confidence.

Is the early years funding different in a maintained nursery?

No, both settings use the same framework – Early Years Foundation Stage, to deliver quality-learning opportunities for your child. Hippitots has a management team that are all university graduates in the Early Years.

Will I be expected to pay anything towards my child’s early years funding?

No. You will only be required to pay additional costs if you are using more hours than the funding covers or for any snacks or meals provided by Hippitots; you can provide your own healthy snacks and meals if you wish.

You will be asked to pay for additional activities your child may attend such as football skills or outings etc. Hippitots will inform you of any charges before your child enrolls or as trips are arranged.

    Is Hippitots inspected?

Yes, we are registered with Ofsted. For our last inspection we received a rating of Outstanding. View Ofsted Report.
